SKC President Park Jang-seok wins ‘Global CEO Award’

Honored for global business success by the Korea Academy of International Business during academy’s regular academic congress


The Korea Academy of International Business honored SKC President Park Jang-seok with a Global CEO Award during its 2010 annual academic congress held at Sogang University on December 20. As part of efforts to conduct in-depth research on global business success stories and publicize them, the academy presents the prize annually by selecting a CEO who displayed extraordinary leadership in Korean companies’ advancement into overseas markets and global business.

President Park gave a presentation on global business cases to the participants of the academy’s regular academic congress. He explained in detail the company’s achievements, including how SKC’s film plant took root in the U.S., and now controls 20 percent share of the U.S. film market, having emerged as one of the big three film producers in the U.S.; Park also expounded on the company’s strategy to expand global hubs in the polyurethane business through the construction of the world’s first HPPO plant jointly with Evonik, a world-renowned chemical producer _ base_d in Germany.

KAIB is a national academy comprised of more than 450 members, including professors and researchers who focus on international business. With more than 20 years of history, the organization is one of the major academic societies in business management in Korea.
