2011-11-25
SKC and SK Telesys conducted the “Kimchi-making Event for Sharing happiness” jointly with the Community Chest of Korea’s Gyeonggi branch in Paju, Gyeonggi Province on November 25.

The kimchi-making event for sharing happiness is an annual corporate social responsibility campaign, in which executives and staff members from the two companies prepare kimchi, Korean’s staple dish during the winter season, and donate to underprivileged people. The company has conducted the annual event for four consecutive years.

In attendance at the kimchi-making event were more than 160 executives and staff members, including Chairman Chey Shin-won from SKC and President Lee Jong-sung of SK Telesys, and executives and staffers from CCK’s Gyeonggi branch.

Chairman Chey, who is also serving as chairman of CCK’s Gyeonggi branch, took part in the event along with staff members from the CCK branch, adding to the meaning of volunteer service and cooperation.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Chey said, “I hope that kimchi made with our staff members’ care can be delivered together with our warm heart to people in need, and thus help them spend a warmer winter,” adding, “I think that caring about neighbors in times of difficulties is truly a proud virtue of the Korean people,” in conveying the meaning of this event.

The 4,000 heads of kimchi made from Chinese cabbages will be delivered to students who received support from the Sunkyung Chey Jong-kun Scholarship Foundation, and the Korean Council of Food Support, and other needy people via CCK’s Gyeonggi branch.
