SKC launches ‘SK Skincare film’ for automobiles and ‘SK homecare film’ for buildings

SKC recently disclosed its intention to launch a new brand of window film, the only item it sells through its B2C business. SKC will sell the automotive and building window film under its newly launched brands of ‘SK Skincare Film’ and ‘SK Homecare Film’ starting this month. As the world’s third largest producer of PET (polyester film), the raw material of window film, equipped with a wealth of production and coating expertise accumulated over a period of 40 years, SKC has successfully acquired world-class know-how for window film as well. SKC, the only Korean company to have produced a protective film that blocks out UV rays 100%, plans to expand its market with ‘customer-recommended products’ by earning customers’ trust and boosting their satisfaction by launching the new brands.



Highly-functional film that blocks out UV rays 100%

Window film has recently evolved from products with the simple functions of preventing glare and blocking vision from the outside into highly-functional products that block heat as well as UV rays. SK Skincare Film secures the driver’s vision and enhances fuel efficiency by blocking solar radiation heat, as well as perfectly protecting the driver’s skin by fully blocking out UV rays 100%.

In addition, SKC will also launch the ‘SK Homecare Film’ brand of window film, which is designed to be attached to the window panes of buildings. UV rays that pass through window panes are the main cause of discoloration of home interiors. SK Homecare Film provides a variety of functions, such as preventing the discoloration of interior furnishings, saving energy by blocking radiant heat, and enhancing vision by preventing the dispersal of light from window panes.



Korea’s only system of full in-house production

All SKC products are produced in-house, thereby differentiating from those of the competition. Generally, some of the production processes for window film products are outsourced or produced under OEM. However, SKC has accumulated world-class production and coating know-how over the last 40 years, as it is the world's third largest producer of PET, the main raw material film of window film.
