Bioland set to become Korea’s first producer of Lava seawater-_ base_d cosmetics, securing stable revenue source

Bioland has been working with the Jeju local government since 2005 to develop the technologies necessary to commercialize Jeju’s natural resources including lava seawater, volcanic scoria, camellia seeds, and tangerine peel. Bioland holds patents for the related technologies and was selected last year as the first business producer of Lava seawater-_ base_d cosmetics. Lava seawater is an inexhaustible recyclable resource that is naturally filtered and purified through s of basalt, which makes it even cleaner than deep seawater. In addition, the high-quality natural water is rich in rare minerals. Cosmetics makers in China, the U.S., and Japan have already shown keen interest in the water, boosting hopes for the creation of a new revenue source. Notably, Jeju’s lava seawater is economical and globally competitive because it entails a relatively low cost. Bioland plans to grow specialty plants indigenous to Jeju, using lava seawater, and to explore other business opportunities to develop ingredients that will differentiate its cosmetics products from those of its rivals.

Bioland takes giant step forward to become global beauty and healthcare materials provider, moving beyond its role as cosmetic materials maker

CEO Jeong declared, “We will be able to produce world-class cosmetics materials at the new factory in Jeju, and will eventually rise as a global maker of cosmetics materials, as well as contributing to the development of Korea’s cosmetics industry,” adding, “Bioland will continue to innovate and stretch its boundaries beyond being simply a cosmetic materials maker, with the ultimate goal of becoming a global beauty and healthcare materials provider.”

While enlarging its portfolio of high value-added cosmetic materials, Bioland is concentrating its competencies on such business areas as mask packs, functional health foods, medical appliances, and natural medicinal and pharmaceutical products. In particular, the company is making strategic investments in developing formation technologies that will make it easier to use (raw) materials, making inroads into China and the Americas with its mask pack products, and expanding its value chain of functional foods. Bioland’s growth strategy also includes the conclusion of M&As with overseas providers of natural raw materials.
