The microbial fermentation bio cellulosic mask pack sheet made by SK Bioland, a leading natural functional material company in Korea, received a world-class certification as an eco-friendly fiber. The OEKO-TEX certification is granted by the OEKO-TEX Association, an eco-friendly textile and leather research institute _ base_d in Europe, and is recognized internationally as the golden standard of eco-friendly fiber certification.

The OEKO-TEX certification is an eco-friendly fiber certification that applies to products that do not use harmful substances and dyes. The start of the certification can be traced back to the OEKO-TEX Standard 100, a test and certification system devised by Austria and a German research institute in 1992 for the purpose of creating a standard for measuring the maleficence of textiles that come in contact with the human body.

The OEKO-TEX Association conducts about 100 simulation tests on textile raw materials, intermediate products, final products, and accessory materials at all stages of the manufacturing process and decides whether to certify them. There are four grade levels from class 1 to class 4. SK Bioland's bio-cellulose mask pack sheet obtained the Class 1 certification, the highest grade level. Class 1 means that the textile is safe enough to be used in underwear for infants 3 years old or younger.

With this certification, SK Bioland has procured a launch pad to enter the global market more quickly. As the first company in the world to develop and commercialize microbial fermentation bio-cellulose mask pack sheet, SKC in 2011 completed a production plant capable of producing 5 million sheets in Haimen, China, in June of this year. This is the second plant after the company’s Cheonan plant, and it will spur on the company’s ambition to target the Chinese and global market.
