● SKC plans to expand its social contribution program for the local community in collaboration with the Jongno-gu Office

SKC’s new employees have carried out their first pro bono activity this year. Pro bono refers to an activity in which professionals provide their expertise and capabilities for social and public benefit without asking for payment. Starting with this activity, SKC plans to actively engage in activities aimed at increasing happiness by creating social values during this year.

On January 28, a total of 28 members from SKC, including CEO Lee Wan-jae; Lee Yong-sun, Division Manager of the Industry Materials Business; ; Roh Young Ju, Officer of DBL Promotion Office and SKC pro bono team HAPPIEST installed ‘SK Home Care Film,’ a window film product by SKC for architectural applications, at the Jongno Center for the Disabled. Following the launch of the 1st SKC HAPPIEST last year, selected new employees and volunteers joined the 2nd SKC HAPPIEST in 2019.

For the installation work, SKC HAPPIEST received prior training from a window film installation expert and installed window films in five corporations and three facilities at the Jongno Center for the Disabled. The center is a place designed to encourage people with disabilities to take part in social activities, which consists of the district’s office of the organization for disabled people, a sign language interpretation center, a support center for people with physical disabilities, and a lifelong education center for people with developmental disabilities.

SK Home Care Film helps reduce heating costs in winter by blocking cold air coming through windowpanes. It also boasts a heat rejection rate of up to 95%, lowering the indoor temperature during summer by 3 to 5 degrees compared to the outside temperature. In addition, the film also blocks out more than 99% of UV rays, thereby reducing the color fading of indoor furniture and curtains.

SKC HAPPIEST plans to expand its pro bono activities by _ link_ing with the Jongno-gu Office. Starting with its service at the Jongno Center for the Disabled, the team will install window films in five social welfare institutions, including a self-support center and a children's center in Jongno-gu, where SKC headquarters is located. It also plans to run various social contribution programs in connection with the local community in addition to the installation of window films.

Executive Director Jeong Won-gap of the Jongno Federation of the Disabled expressed, “We are very grateful for SKC’s installation of window films. I hope they will keep our welfare facilities warm in winter and cool in summer for not only people with disabilities who visit the center but also employees who work here.”

SKC CEO Lee Wan-jae noted, “All members of SKC will participate in various social contribution programs to internalize social values. SKC will take the lead in creating social values not only through our pro bono activities but also innovated business models.” [End]
