On July 4, 2006, SKC was awarded the Industrial Technology Innovation prize with a prize money of 10 million won by the Korea Industrial Technology Foundation (KOTEF) with support from the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE).

The Industrial Technology Innovation prize is conferred upon companies or research teams that conduct groundbreaking research in industrial technology development projects or other technology-related fields. KOTEF bestows the award _ base_d on outstanding achievement. The selection process involves the uation of the technological merits, overall importance, and commercialization prospects of the innovation.

The award recognized the success of the “High heat-resistant, High molecular Precursor for PI films and Film Development” project that SKC participated in as a part of a long-term research and development project led by MOCIE. A government grant of 2.2 billion won was given in support to the project. SKC Managing Director Shim Young-joo of the Advanced Technology Research Lab received the prize on behalf of the company.
