SK nexilis Opens ‘Sharing Shop’ in Jeongeup to Boost Local Economy

SKC (CEO Lee
Wan-jae) has launched ‘Sharing Shops’ for young entrepreneurs in Jeongeup,
Jeollabuk-do, the production _ base_ of SK nexilis, SKC’s subsidiary specializing
in copper foil business for secondary batteries as its first step to help
revitalize the local economy. Based on an MOU signed in June with the city of
Jeongeup, SK nexilis has sought ways to lay the foundation for mutual
prosperity with the local community in the municipality.



 



On October 7, SK
nexilis held the opening ceremony of Sharing Shop Nos. 1 and 2 with the
municipal government of Jeongeup at the sites near a traditional market in the
city. It is the first outcome of ‘Joy’n Jeongeup,’ a local rediscovery project
being promoted by SK nexilis and Jeongeup City. The attendants included Kim
Young-tae, CEO of SK nexilis, Yoo Jin-seop, mayor of Jeongeup, and Kim
Jeong-hyeon, CEO of Underdogs, a startup education company.



 



A ‘Sharing Shop’
is aimed at expanding markets for young entrepreneurs. The initial two Sharing
Shops are situated in previously empty stores, which have undergone renovation,
near Samgoeul Market, the largest traditional market in Jeollabuk-do.
‘Restaurant 22’ launched by food director Jeong Hee-jin at Sharing Shop No. 1
presents fine dining _ base_d on local specialties such as Korean beef and oats. Sharing
Shop No. 2 is a select shop run by the life_ style_ company ‘more_andmore’ _ base_d
in Gunsan to sell perfume products and much more with motifs of famous places
in Jeongeup such as Mount Naejangsan.



 



SK
nexilis and Jeongeup City will develop the old downtown area of
​​Jeongeup
City as a ‘Signature Area’ using the Sharing Shops as a launching pad. They
will run the Sharing Shops as six-month pop-up stores to benefit as many young
entrepreneurs as possible while supporting entrepreneurs from the Sharing Shops
settle down in the Jeongeup area. They will also strive to increase the number
of Sharing Shops as an effort to expand the platform while enhancing startup
consulting services for local merchants so more of them can join the Sharing
Shop platform.



 



SKC nexilis will
also focus on identifying and developing added content that can please both
Jeongeup citizens and tourists such as a walking event along the beautiful
trekking course of Mount Naejangsan and a food truck festival featuring
renowned food trucks from all over the country as well as local restaurant
booths.

economy.”
