KLEDA-SKC export 10 billion won worth of LED goods to Japan

▷ Seal export agreements with the LED Lighting Spread Association and related organizations in Japan to invigorate the LED industry

▷ Present best practices for shared growth between large and small and mid-sized companies in the LED industry

The Korea LED Association, or KLEDA, which represents the LED lighting industry in Korea, has teamed up with SKC to export 10 billion won worth of LED goods produced by Korean small and mid-sized companies to Japan.

The KLEDA and SKC sealed, on June 23, an agreement with the LED Lighting Spread Association of Japan, or DLEDA, to promote the LED industries in Korea and Japan at the LED EXPO hall at KINTEX in Seoul.

Under the agreement, Korean small and mid-sized companies will export 10 billion won of LED products to Japan this year and 20 billion to 30 billion won next year. Imported Korean LED products will be distributed in Japan nationwide.

KLEDA, SKC and the DLEDA will cooperate to invigorate trade between Korean and Japanese LED makers and expand the use of LED products; promote shared growth between large, small and mid-sized companies in Korea; support Japan’s recovery from the massive earthquake last March; and boost technology and information sharing for the development of the LED industries in both countries.

The KLEDA will select Korean small and mid-sized LED makers to enter the Japanese market and will outline their marketing activities. SKC will help small and mid-sized LED makers export their products to Japan and provide the necessary funds and technologies.

At a time when large corporations have come under fire for their entry into the LED lighting market, the cooperation between KLEDA and SKC is being heralded as the best practice for shared growth between the larger and smaller companies that the Korean Government is actively promoting.

KLEDA President Kim Ki-ho said, “The export contract serves as a practical example of shared growth between large and small companies, which is the most significant meaning of the contract.” He added that cooperation with overseas private organizations would continuously be pursued to help Korean small and mid-sized companies expand their businesses abroad.

For its part, DLEDA will serve as the representative of Japanese companies to support Korean LED makers’ entrance to the Japanese market. The mayor of Myoko, in the Niikata Prefecture, will also join a signing ceremony to announce a plan to promote Korean LED products in Japan.

By taking this opportunity, KLEDA and SKC will rev up their efforts to devise practical measures for the simultaneous growth of large and small businesses.
