SKC Chairman Chey Shin-won joins Suwon citizens to participate in tree planting event

Chairman Chey Shin-won of SKC, and some 150 executives and staff members from SKC and SK Telesys, participated in a tree planting event jointly with Suwon City and Suwon citizens in the buffer forest areas in Yuljeon-dong, Jangan-gu ,Suwon City, at 3 pm on April 2.



The tree planting event, which marked its 68th anniversary this year, was hosted by Suwon City to a future forest for the city. In attendance at the event were more than 550 people, including executives and staff members from SKC and SK Telesys, who were participating in the event for the first time this year, Suwon City civil servants, Suwon Green Trust and Saemaeul (New Community Movement) civic groups. They planted 485 large trees of 11 different species, including oak trees in the buffer forest zones - measuring 11,000 sq. meters - and staged a campaign to prevent spring forest fires during the tree planting event.



Chairman Chey Shin-won and executives and staff of SKC and SKC Telesys have now planted trees in the Gyeonggi provincial region for the fifth year this year. Notably, marking the 60th anniversary of SK Group’s foundation this year, they joined Suwon citizens to participate in the tree planting event in Suwon, where Sunkyong Industry, the origin of the business group, was first located. Also attending the event were staff members of the Suwon Chamber of Commerce and the Community Chest of Korea’s Gyeonggi Chapter, for which Chairman Chey engages in activities, making the event all the more meaningful.



Chairman Chey said, “I think it is very meaningful that SK, a company founded and _ base_d in Suwon, joins Suwon citizens to carry out corporate social responsibility activities in the local region.” He added, “Just like people buy insurance policy to ensure peace of mind in life, I am sure that every single tree that we plant today will become an insurance policy that will convey happiness to our generation and future generations,” in explaining the meaning of the event.
