Marking its 37th anniversary on October 15, SKC (CEO Park Jang Seok) conducted various volunteer community service activities with the participation of all executives and staff members. The volunteer activities were in commemoration of its anniversary, and were centered in the Suwon region, where SKC has established itself as a company. Going beyond its past activities that had involved only its executives and staff members, the Company conducted events designed to communicate and cooperate with the local community, while also collaborating with local residents, non-governmental organizations, and charity organizations.

In one particular event, where people threw Effective Micro-organism (EM) mud balls into Seoho stream, local residents and NGO such as including the Suwon YWCA, Suwon River Area Network, and Seocho Stream Friends, set up an “environmental experience booths” and held events where participants could make their own eco- friendly daily living goods, including EM deodorizers, EM fabric conditioners, and EM toothpaste, that all use EM-fermented liquid as an ingredient. Everyone at the event worked together to carry out and experience an “environmentally friendly of daily living” along with the “campaign to a healthy stream”.

Additionally, SKC executives and staff members conducted volunteer community service activities aimed at preserving local cultural heritage sites by replacing window paper at Suwon’s Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. Other members of the Company visited the Suwon Nursing Home for Senior Citizens, and took the elderly on a small trip to the outskirts of Seoul. They also offered facial packs and massages to those of who find it difficult to get around them. The SKC members and senior citizens there all had a great time together. Also, some staff members visited the Suwon Welfare Center for the Disabled and the SK Cheongsol Nursing Home for Senior Citizens, facilities that they regularly visit as part of their usual volunteer activities. SKC has been conducting volunteer community service activities in lieu of Foundation Day events since 2007.
