Contract signed with SunEdison for the first time in Korea for the supply of LED Devices to retail outlets in the U.S.

SKC Lighting, an LED-making subsidiary of Korea's tech materials company SKC Co. and represented by Lim Won Ki will supply LED devices to a U.S. solar power generation company. SKC Lighting announced that it has signed an agreement with SunEdison of the United States to supply lighting devices, the first of its kind among Korean companies. SunEdison installs and runs solar panels on the roof of more than 1,000 large business establishments such as retail outlets and department stores throughout the U.S. Recently the company began offering services installing energy-saving LED lightings inside the building, which ed it to make the contract. With the latest deal, SKC Lighting will be able to exclusively supply LED devices to buildings in which SunEdison installs photovoltaic modules for the next 18 months.

Expanding partnership with SunEdison

SunEdison has exceptionally selected SKC Lighting as its strategic partner to supply LED devices to its projects in the U.S. SKC’s successful expansion into the photovoltaic market in the U.S. _ base_d on its experience in polyester films as well as the enhanced marketing capability of SKC Lighting has also helped secure the deal. SunEdison is a global leader in in transforming how energy is generated, distributed and owned. SunEdison manufactures solar technology and develops, finances, installs and operates distributed solar power plants, delivering predictably priced electricity and services to its residential, commercial, government and utility customers. With this deal as the momentum, SKC Lighting will be able to expand the range of partnership with SunEdison, for example, moving into markets of Asia and the Middle East together.

First successful products after transforming into a marketing company

Founded in 2003, SKC Lighting Co Ltd. provides light emitting diodes, fixtures, and lamps and provides light consulting and design services. It became a subsidiary of SKC Co. Ltd. in 2010. Since 2013, SKC Lighting has specialized in marketing of LED lighting products, focusing on design and system development rather than manufacturing. The company's products are thus the outcome of joint efforts with Licon of the United States and Peak Technology of China. The lighting devices to be supplied to SunEdison are also manufactured by China's Peak Technology under the SKC Lighting brand. Licon acquired UL certification in the U.S. for its LED engine technology for the first time in the world. Licon’s ICE engine module encompasses an LED driver with or without a voltage regulated power supply, high power factor correction, pulse width modulation, dimming and filtered EMI. This technology will significantly reduce the size of lighting products to 1/10 and weight to 1/30 of the conventional products, and delivers long life (twice longer than conventional products) and high reliability for the most demanding LED lighting applications without electrolytic capacitors or other external LED driver components. This platform is ideally suited for multiple lighting fixtures in various applications at competitive cost.

Licon’s ICE light engine applies SMPS(Switching Mode Power Supply) with proprietary thermally advanced COB (chip-on-board) and compact solid-state electronic PCB. This technology will significantly reduce the size of lighting products to 1/10 of the conventional products, and delivers long life (twice longer than conventional products) and high reliability for the most demanding LED lighting applications without electrolytic capacitors or other external LED driver components. In February 2014 Licon acquired UL certification in the U.S. for its LED engine technology for the first time in the world.
