Bioland (CEO Jeong Chan-bok), a subsidiary of SKC, held a ceremony to dedicate its Jeju factory in Lava Seawater Park at Gujwa-eup, Jeju-si on June 17th. The event was attended by over 100 VIPs from home and abroad, including Lee Wan-jae, CEO of SKC, Jeong Chan-bok, CEO of Bioland, Kim Il-hwan, president of Jeju Techno Park, and Kim Hyeong-jin, head of the Future Strategic Industries Division of Jeju-do’s autonomous government. Korea’s only supplier of cosmetics materials derived from Jeju’s indigenous produce

Jejudo Island’s lava seawater and special crops are natural produce that have attracted attention worldwide as the demand for cosmetics materials is growing rapidly. Bioland has been developing technologies for commercializing Jeju special produce jointly with the Juju provincial government since 2005. The company is Korea’s only producer of lava seawater cosmetics materials on a lava seawater business park purchased from the municipal government in 2014, and holds the relevant patents. Furthermore, it has succeeded in developing over twenty different Jeju indigenous natural products - including volcanic mushrooms and camellia seeds - into cosmetics materials by utilizing extraction techniques accumulated over a period of 20 years, as well as commercializing them. The company also possesses a dedicated mass production facility due to its construction of the Jeju factory.

Products supplied to global cosmetics majors in Korea, China, France, USA, etc.

The cosmetics materials produced by Bioland’s Jeju factory using lava seawater and Jeju indigenous natural products have been granted certifications by major Korean cosmetics producers. Now, the company is expected to start supplying to major cosmetics producers in USA and China after obtaining certifications within the year.

“With the completion of the new Jeju factory, we have finally succeeded in commercializing Jeju’s indigenous natural products thanks to our concerted efforts over the past ten years,” said Chan-bok Jeong, CEO of Bioland. “We will continue to develop natural raw materials for global cosmetics products through steady R&D efforts while promoting Korea’s proud indigenous natural products from Jejudo island.”

Bioland leaps ahead to become a global Beauty and Healthcare business

Bioland, Korea’s No. 1 producer of natural cosmetics materials, plans to grow into a global cosmetics materials producer by adding Jeju’s indigenous natural products to its product portfolio following the construction of its new factory in Jeju. In addition, it plans to expand its mask pack business by building a large-scale mask pack factory in China following the construction of its Ansan factory, which produces highly-functional mask pack products, as well as to develop another global business line with its collagen membrane-_ base_d medical supplies soon around China. In this way, Bioland will successfully grow into a global BHC business by diversifying its beauty and healthcare products.
