Social contribution project “Happy Windows Created Together by SKC and Habitat for Humanity Korea” opens new window for social value

● SKC CEO personally applies SK Home Care Film to windows in an attempt to _ _ create__ social value, going beyond merely making donations

● SKC plans to increase social contribution activities using SKC products to integrate social value into SKC’s business as a long-term goal  


As a follow-up to the agreement made by SKC with Habitat for Humanity Korea, SKC has taken specific steps for social contribution to provide all of the window films needed for home construction and improvement under the Houses of Hope project.  


Going beyond merely making donations, SKC employees get actively involved in social contribution programs including personally installing SKC’s window films

SKC CEO Lee Wan-jae and 30 SKC employees visited a construction site for the Habitat for Humanity Korea–managed Houses of Hope in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do on October 26, 2017 to take part in the installation of window films and in the home construction. This is a follow-up to the “Happy Windows Created Together by SKC and Habitat for Humanity Korea,” a flagship social contribution program implemented by SKC in 2017. The program requires the active and personal involvement of SKC employees in creating social value as they apply SKC’s films to the windows.  



 

SKC CEO Lee and members of the SKC Window Film Sales Team took charge of window film installation. They learned how to install films from professionals, and then applied the films to the windows in the houses being built under the Houses of Hope project. 


The SK Home Care Film used for the construction can block up to 75% of heat. The film can save up to 21% of air-conditioning cost in summer; thus significantly helping residents save energy cost. In addition, the film – which blocks UV 100% -- not only blocks UV A that causes skin cancer and freckles but also slows the fading or discoloring of indoor furniture and curtains. 


SKC employees from the film, chemicals, and New Biz teams participated in the activity. Beads of sweat ran down their foreheads and faces as they constantly struck with hammers to attach the wooden walls onto the concrete-made building _ _ frame__.  


SKC tackles social issues to _ _ create__ social value and actively shares its infrastructure including business know-how 

Building upon its involvement in the Houses of Hope project by Habitat for Humanity Korea, SKC plans to engage actively in creating social value by addressing social issues including environment and unemployment. Currently, SKC is expanding its social contribution activities _ _ link__ed to its products such as offering of its films for the House of Hope project; in the long term, the company will incorporate social value into more of its businesses. SKC is seriously considering working with social enterprises in the process. 


“Previously, social contribution activities were led primarily by volunteers, but we will carry out our social contribution programs and businesses in a way that can contribute to resolving social problems and raising corporate value by _ _ link__ing social value to economic value.
